Sandstone fountain with a wrought-iron canopy. The eight panels of the octagonal fountain basin have reliefs that are designed in the manner of medieval coins and seals with a frieze, surrounding inscriptions and coats of arms. The coats of arms refer to the four trades - butchers, bakers, shoemakers and cloth makers - of Berlin and Cölln and can be found in documents from 1442 and 1448. In the center of the basin rises the 6 m tall columnar fountain stock, crowned by the seated figure of the Berlin heraldic animal, a brown bear, holding the Brandenburg eagle coat of arms.
The fountain in the oldest settlement area in Berlin is placed on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the founding of the city.![]() Su. sutorum sardonu i Berlin - Seal of the shoemakers of Berlin (mallet and a hatchet) |
