Description

Marble statue of the king in simple clothes. Holding a floral wreath, his left hand rest on a pedestal with a relief portrait of his wife, Queen Luise. The base is decorated with reliefs, expressing a paean to the Tiergarten.

Annotation

The monument was built as a thanks for the beautification of the Tiergarten, which was led by the king. It was funded by donations from all parts of the population. It was unveiled 3 August 1849. The present statue in the Tiergarten a replica of 1981, the original is in the citadel of Spandau.
