Annotation

The original statue of Goethe sitting on a bench, sculpted by Willy Russ of Krásno, was unveiled on 15 May 1932 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death.The statue was destroyed during the Second World War. After the war, there was a stone bearing a plaque installed on the original pedestal, stating that Goethe's statue had been standing there. The present statue was placed on the original pedestal and unveiled in 1993.
