Cape Santa Maria
Columbus' arrival monument
Pyramid with globe and cross.
IS DEDICATED TO
THE GENTLE PEACEFUL AND HAPPY
OF LONG ISLAND
TO THE ARRIVAL OF
OCT. 17, 1492.
Columbus Harbour is the spot where Columbus anchored off and came ashore by long boat October 16th, 1492.
Just north of it, on cliffs from 100' high, sits the monument commemorating Columbus' Landing and his brief trading with the natives of Yuma.
There are two diffent plaques, I don't know which one is the newest.
