Stone column in three sections, with a relief portrait in the upper section, a text plaque in the central section, and the sign of the Brazilian Navy witht text 'Homenagem da Marinha do Brasil ao seu ex-Ministro Dr. Raul Soares de Moura Dezembro/2008' in the lower section.

Peixoto Soares de Moura, nasceu
em Uba - MG, em 7/8/1877.
Oriundo de clã tradicional, foi
professor, advogado, jornalista
e escritor.
Foi o primeiro civil, na República,
a ser Ministro da Marinha de
Guerra, no Governo Epitácio
Pessoa, de 26/7/1919 a 20/10/1920,
quando implementou admirável
plano de reorganização da Armada.
Eleito, assumiu o governo de MG,
em 7/9/1922, quando realizou
signifiativos trabalhos em prof do
povo mineiro.
Faleceu en 4/8/1924, deixando um
legado de coragem moral e de firme
defesa dos interesses nacionais.

Dr. RAUL SOARES DE MOURA

Soares de Moura and Amélia
Peixoto Soares de Moura, was born
in Uba - MG, on 7 Aug. 1877.
A native of the traditional clan, he was
teacher, lawyer, journalist
and writer.
He was the first civilian, in the Republic,
to be Minister of the Navy,
in the Government of Epitácio
Pessoa, from 26 July 1919 to 20 Oct. 1920,
when he implemented an admirable
reorganization plan of the Navy.
Elected, he took over the government of MG,
on 7 sept. 1922, when he realised
significant works for the
people of Minas Gerais.
He passed away on 4 Aug. 1924, leaving a
legacy of moral courage and firm
defense of national interests.
