Description

Granite monument with a bronze statue and reliefs. The monument represents the domain of the territory by the bandeirantes and the conquest of the freedom by the miners martyrs. The work is composed by an allegorical figure of Mines and by four reliefs in the central block.
On the top is the figure of a naked man inspired by Apollo, with a flag in hand, representing the heroism of the citizen of Minas Gerais. Below one of the signs is the inscription in Latin Montani Semper Liberti (the mountain is always free).
