Description

Two dancing women around a pole, representing the rivers Sambre and Meuse (or Grace and Freedom).

Annotation

These two dancers were one of the main artistic decorations of the Hungarian Pavilion of the World Expo Brussel in 1958. The joint work of two famous Hungarian sculptors Somogyi and Kerényi (the names 'J. Fmogyi' and 'M. Keremyi' found on many websites are erroneous) won the Expo's Grand Prix and was sold after the exhibition closed. It was erected again in Namur, but in a different position that wasn't such ethereal and magnificient like in the pavilion where it was on an almost vertical decoration wall, like they were flying during the dance. .
