Description

In two niches in the old Town Hall are two statues of the patron saints of the town's two shooting guilds:

1. St. George		 Visé - St. Georges et St. Martin
2. St. Martin

  1. St. George (ca. 275/281 - 303), Roman soldier from Syria Palaestina and a priest in the Guard of Diocletian, one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. He is immortalized in the tale of Saint George and the Dragon (Wikipedia)
  2. St. Martin (Savaria, Pannonia (now Szombathely, Hungary), 316 - Candes-Saint-Martin, Gaul 397), 3rd Bishop of Tours. Around his name much legendary material accrued and he has become one of the most familiar and recognizable Christian saints (Wikipedia).
