1961 |
The building of the Régie des Télégraphes et Téléphones (later Belgacom, now Proximus) was built in 1961. The main entrance is adorned with a stone frieze with a relief representing the activities of the RTT.
The central part shows a reclining woman with airplanes and a ship, flanked to the left by a panel showing important old buildings in Hainaut (the Belfort of Mons, the Scheldt Gate in Tournai and an unidentified church or cathedral), with some factories. The panel to the right shows a modern city with a suspension bridge.
Around the corner in the Rue Boulangé de La Hainière is a second stone relief showing a man and a woman with a terrestrial globe. This relief was made by François Leinne
