Description

Statues of eight muses along the central axis of the Lower Belvedere Garden. Originally they were placed in front of the orangery with in the center the ninth muse Clio in a sculture group with Apollo (now placed elsewhere in the garden, and not photographed by us).

West side
Melpomene Muse of tragedy, with a tragic mask	Calliope Muse of epic poetry, with torch and book	Euterpe Muse of music, song and lyric, with a flute	Thalia (?) Muse of Comedy
East side
Polyhymnia Muse of hymns, with a scroll with music notation.	Urania Muse of astronomy, with a globe and compass	Terpsichore Muse of dance, with a tambourin	Erato Muse of love poetry, with a lute.

Sculptor

Giovanni Stanetti (Oberglogow [Głogówek] 1663 - Wien 1726), Austrian sculptor (Wikipedia).
