Das Weldendenkmal Feldmarschallleutnant Ludwig Freiherr von Welden |
The Welden Monument After being ordered to Graz in 1839, Field MarschalLieutenant Ludwig Freiherr von Welden began trans- forming the ruins devastated by French blasting into a romantic park. The nature-loving officer also construc- ted a number of facilities on this little plateau that no longer exist - a Gothic water-tower, a kiosk, and a music pavilion. The heart of the park was the Schweizer- haus (Swiss House) that burned down in 1945. |
