Description

Slate statue of a fisherman. Legend has it that a fisherman was turned into stone after he had manipulated the scales in his own favor. The stone sculpture of a fisherman dating from 1606 is one of the most important sculptures in Europe in terms of law history. The fishermen at Lake Wörth had reputedly sold their produce on their way to the market at ridiculous prices. They were to pay high fines and the local authorities set up the monument to denounce the whole guild. In the socle is the year 1606 and the text:
So Lang Wil ich da Bleibn sthan -
pis mier meine Füsch und Khrebs abgan.

Since 1988 it is at this location.
