Description

Monument in several parts. A stone statue of Columbus in front of a white concrete (?) wall with the flags of Italy and Spain and text:
PLAZOLETA DE LAS AMERICAS
homenaje municipal .. laboulaye

Further there is a wall of boulders with some depictions, and a second wall with a tile family picture, flanked by framed reliefs.

Annotation

On October 12, 1965 with a glittering event the official opening ceremony of the "Plaza of the Americas" was held, across from the Esplanade of the San Martín Train Station, and with which the Asociación Española de Socorros Mutuos and the Municipality of Laboulaye adhered to the celebration of Columbus Day and the anniversary of the founding of the city. The magnificent monument was adorned with the presence of ladies and young people with typical costumes representing the American nations, gave special emphasis to the opening remembered.
The statue of Christopher Columbus has been transferred to this as the central figure of this allegory, complete with the colorful presence of all the American flags in a successful combination of the purest Americanism that enhances both gave the city for years.
