"Columbus Taking Possession"
The statue, invoking a heavenly blessing on the newfound land, is a replica of the plaster statue which stood in front of the Administration Building at the World's Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893. It is dedicated to "All Citizens of Columbus, Wisconsin, Past, Present, Future."
The statue is made of fiberglass an in color. Built to last 100 years, donated by Daniel & Rose Amato and the Columbus Museum. This museum, also a donated by the Amatos, contains many souvenirs from the World Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893.
