Description
Statue of Columbus dressed in period garb that includes a hat, stands holding an orb topped by a cross in his extended left hand. The figure is set atop an incised base that is surrounded by a low fence.

The statue was refurbished in 2002.
Medal
This commemorative medal shows on one side the portrait of "Rev. R.E. Burke, Rector" with the text: "Sts. Phillip & James Church - Phillipsburg, N.J." and the date "Oct. 12, 1892". The other side shows the Columbus statue and the text "1892 Columbus 1892 Souvenir Medal".
The medal is similar to #238 of Harold E. Hibler & Charles V. Kappen, So-Called Dollars, an Illustrated Standard Catalog with Valuations. New York: The Coin and Currency Institute, Inc. 1963.
Identical to the one in Columbus, Ohio, and Peoria, Ill.
