Annotation

When his family moved from Genova to Savona, Christopher Colombus alterned the sea-voyages whit pauses in land; during the same worked in the father's shop (woollen-draper) in Via San Giuliano. In a document dated Savona 20 March 1472 Colombus is indicated as "lanerius" in Savona. In 1472 and 1473 he probably helped his father Domenico in the shop in Via San Giuliano (now Via dei Cassari). This street and the church of San Giuliano were demolished almost all (1939-1940); there remains about 100 meters, with the old house whith this plaque. The present name of the street is Via dei Cassari. (see also the other plaque in Savona).
