Annotation

The colossal Monumento a la Fe Descubridora (Monument to the Discoverer Faith), better known as Monumento á Colón (Monument to Columbus) is a landmark in the flat region at the confluence of the rivers Tinto and Odiel, the so-called Punta del Sebo, just south of the city of Huelva and opposite the Monastery of La Rábida. It is the most representative and best known image of Huelva. The was erected in 1929 under auspices of the Columbus Memorial Fund. The gaze of Christopher Columbus, oriented to the immensity of the ocean and the way to the Discovery, marks the calling of the sea for the people of Huelva.
