A long brass plaque over the platform with the date of inauguration, 12 October 1992, the President and the Mayor´s name under which it took place:

Annotation
The monument was created by sculptor Enrique Villalobos and inaugurated in 1992 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' voyage to America.
The monument is meant to pay tribute to the indegenous people of Chile (the Mapuche) that fought the western man (Spaniards and creoles) since the time of the Spanish Conquistadores.
