Description

Marble statue of Goethe with a scroll in his hand, standing on a round pedestal with three allegorical sculpture groups:
  1. The muse of Poetry, a seated woman with a lyra, accompanied by Eros, a winged nude boy with a arrow.
  2. The muse of Science, a seated woman with a large book, accompanied the Genius of Research, by a boy with a torch upward.
  3. The muse of Drama, a seated woman writing on a scroll, with the Genius of Drama, a standing winged boy with an torch downward, symbol of death.
