Samurai who fought for Emperor Go-Daigo in his attempt to wrest rulership of Japan away from the Kamakura shogunate.

Koun Takamura was the head of the project, but sculpted himself mainly the head part, the body was sculpted by Kisai Yamada and Koumei Ishikawa and the horse by Sadayuki Goto. The wooden model was finished in 1893, the bronze in 1897.
