Description
Bronze sculpture of a cow on a circular column, around which is a circular bronze relief with scenes of the song 'Herrn Pastor sien Kauh'. The whole is in a circular fountain basin. The fountain was not working while we were photographing.
'Herrn Pastor sien Kauh' is a Low German roundelay, of which many North German know at least a few verses. The content is about the pastor's cow to be slaughtered at Pentecost, and in each stanza someone in the village gets his share and is at the same time mocked.
The reliefs shows the pastor and various villagers.
- 'Un de Köster kreeg den Stert as Klockenstrang' - The Pastor and the sacristan getting the tail to ring the bell.
- 'Un uns niege Füerwehr kreeg en Pott voll Wagensmeer: Firefighters get a pot of axle-grease.
- Boy and his dog.
'Un de ole Neihkatrin kreeg den Kopp as Neihmaschin': 'Neihkratrin' getting the cow's head as sewing machine.
- The Butcher.
- 'Un de ole Dörpkapell kreeg en nieget Trummelfell': The village music band gets a new drumhead.
- 'De Mekelnbörger leits nich slapen se sett den Kopp in't Lanneswappen': Teacher and a man with the Mecklenburg coat of arms (an bull's head).
